Configure Virtual Hosts in WAMP Server (MS Windows)

Fri, 11/02/2012 - 14:34 -- Arisen

I use wamp a lot for configuring and installing sites locally first to do testing on different applications before running them on production servers. So the problem I run into a lot is remembering the urls for these different sites. So now I use virtual hosts and setup alias to the different urls. If you have two sites (site1 and site2) locally, it’s always a pain having to browse them by using “http://localhost/site1/index.php” as a URL.

I recently tried to make a accordion menu system using various different jQuery libraries but they all seem to be flawed in one way or another so I took some pieces from each and combined them with jQuery Collapser plugin. I had a big problem trying to get the current url because of ajax requests and redirects so I stumbled upon a great jQuery function call .data. I'll go over everything below and how I tied it altogether.

If you are able to include the scrollto plugin: then when you add the scrollto class to the same element as the qa-container then you'll see a lovely animation that lets users see just how far they are traversing on the page.

This jQuery function also takes into account whether or not you would like to have multiple FAQs on a single page. Just a reminder to change the container id's and the question ids to be different than one another.
